AntoniJurasz University Hospital No. 1 in Bydgoszcz is the region’s largest high specialty medical facility with over-regional span of influence.
The founding body of the Hospital is Nicolaus Copernicus University in Torun (NCU). In accordance with the charter of the A. Jurasz University Hospital No. 1 issued by the Rector of theNicolaus Copernicus University, the aim of the Hospital is to realise didactical and research goals in connection with providing health services and promotion of health. The Hospital constitutes a didactical base for the students of LudwikRydygier Medical College NCU in Bydgoszcz as well as scientific research and, above all, serves as the region’s largest hospital providing high specialty medical procedures as well as health, diagnostic and rehabilitation services for the patients of the region. Within its educational framework, the Hospital also provides under- and postgraduate courses for doctors, nurses, paramedics, physiotherapists and other medical specialists.
Having highly qualified personnel the Hospital guarantees its patients a professional, knowledge, experience and research-based medical care. The Hospital’s organisational structure consists of 26 departments and units (summarily 914 beds), 7 diagnostic divisions and Specialist Outpatient Clinic Complex. The Hospital annually admits approx. 34 800 patients and provides approx. 200 000 specialist consultations.

ADMITTING A PATIENT

After arriving in the hospital an emergency patient is brought to the Emergency Medicine Clinic where the initial diagnostics takes place, serving as grounds for the decision whether or not to admit the patient.

Required Documents
• ID card or passport
• Valid European Health Insurance Card (EHIC) or equivalent insurance certificate

Outside emergency situations, EU and EEA citizens may be directed to a hospital outside their home country for planed treatment after obtaining appropriate referral. In such cases, they will be admitted based on S2/E112 form. Failure to provide one of the abovementioned documents constitutes grounds to charge for the procedure according to the official price list.

Patients from outside the EU may be, depending on the terms of their Travel Medical Insurance, required to cover the cost of medical treatment to be later paid back by the insurance company. The hospital will contact the insurer immediately after the patient is admitted to verify the method of covering the cost.

PATIENT’S RIGHTS
Patient’s Rights are an integral part of human rights in a broad sense. The need for regulation in this field arises from the asymmetry in the relation between the patient and the institution or the person providing health services.
In our hospital adherence to the Charter of Patient’s Rights is overseen by the Management’s Representative for Patients’ Rights.
